Topic : Trowel Blades Angle

Why is it important to angle the trowel blades?

In power concrete finishing, it is important to set the trowel blades at the correct angle to reach the best finish. The dryer the concrete, the angle must be bigger. After a couple of passes, the angle of the blades must be increased.

In this process, when the angle increases, it narrows the surface touched by the trowels, so the weight of the machine (whether it is a ride-on or walk-behind) is concentrated and pushed harder. The concrete becomes denser, consequently lot harder and shinier.

A high angle has its advantages but also its downsides. That is why you must do it gradually.

At first, when you use Float Trowel Blades and the Float Pans, they must be flat, so it allows the aggregates to sink at the bottom and level the floor at its maximum.

Then, after two or three passes of Float Blades or when you see that there are no more aggregates on the surface, it's time to remove the Float Blades and set the Finishing Blades at a low angle. Then, you can also pass two or three times, increasing the angle every time up to 15°, depending on your machine.

Finally, for a great finish, you can use the Plastic Trowel Blades and still gradually set the angle from 0° up to 15° depending on the power machine you use, to reach the flattest finish.
